Just signed to the Capitol Records in the US, eighteen-year-old singer Lola Young shares the visual for the edgy track ‘3rd of Jan (Getting Ready)’. Instead of performing the song behind the backing track, it appears her raw vocals are atop the recording–making her more personable because I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sung in the mirror on top of my favourite tunes like this. If you’ve ever felt like you were too much for someone, you may relate.

Young explains, I wrote this song the day before my birthday. It is a song about many things all in one, and about being ‘too much for anyone.’ I think this video is a raw, honest interpretation of how I act and how I am before I get ready to perform.

It is from her debut EP appropriately titled, ‘Intro’; was written by Young and produced by Two Inch Punch (Rex Orange County, Kali Uchis, Sam Smith).
