You’ll feel like you are in the seventies after watching this video.

Tapping into her Yoruba roots for ‘Point and Kill’, British rapper Little Simz makes the song I’ve personally been waiting to hear from her for all of these years. After watching a Nigerian woman chastises another one, she walks out of the living quarters. Next, we see Simz on the back of a motorcycle, riding into town with a gentleman donning a white beaded helmet. In an open field, barechested men pump iron and grunt/make faces as she rides by in the middle of nowhere. She continues to see locals until she makes it to the gathering of the evening. When the hook comes in, her fellow British-Nigerian artist Obongjayar’s vocals take over, and it is everything. Who does the Calabar, Nigeria native remind me of on this record? Pharrell Williams.

Watch the cinematic music video directed by Ebeneza Blanche below. The visual masterpiece is taken from her new album ‘Sometimes I Might Be Introvert’. There is a powerful image at the end, and I think it deserves to be seen. Let me know what it reminds you of.

Little Simz also performed this track for NPR Tiny Desk recently. You can also check it out below.
