Kygo Hits 22.5 Million Mark On Spotify, #6 In The Spotify Global Charts

Every so often an artist enters the arena and simply changes the game. In 2014, Norwegian DJ-Producer — signed to Sony Music worldwide and Ultra in the U.S. — started to gain recognition with his undeniably infectious remixes. Putting the Kygo touch on original tracks from contemporary artists such as Rihanna, Ed Sheeran and Ellie Goudling (to name a few), as well as sprucing up old time classics such as the legendary Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing” and Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”, the 23-year-old producer soon created a name for himself. In just a matter of weeks, his Soundcloud page went viral, quickly gaining an impressive half-a-million followers, and all without the support from a label or public relations.

Kygo’s refreshing signature sound and production has clearly resonated with music fans worldwide as he continues to exceed all expectations. Since co-signing to record label giants Sony Music and Ultra Records, Kygo entered the studio to start working on original material and a debut album. The first single to come from him is the lush, tropical-dance anthem “Firestone” featuring Conrad. Just one month after its release, the single has generated an impressive 22.5 million streams on Spotify (clocking in over 1 millions plays on New Year’s Eve) alone. The track debuted at #9 in the Global Spotify Charts, currently sits comfortably at #6 (between Calvin Harris and Ariana Grande) and continues to top the Spotify Charts worldwide since its release back in December 2014.

Tipped as a favorite to rule 2015 by MTV IGGY, Billboard Magazine also predict he’s “on the verge of becoming dance music’s next superstar,” Kygo’s future looks bright. Now with a Coachella slot confirmed for April and a sold-out worldwide tour (including North America) under his belt, Kygo could well be the artist to break big in America in 2015.
