R&B/Soul singer-songwriter KIRBY is hardly a newcomer in the music industry. With credits under her belt alongside the likes of Kanye West, Beyoncé, and Paul McCartney, she continues her foray into the solo artist stratosphere with her single ‘We Don’t Funk’, the third record released from her upcoming EP ‘SIS’, which will be available in February. KIRBY boldly throws us into an uptempo, Neo-Soul groove, heavy with drums and guitar rhythms that immediately grabs the listener. The tight harmonies on the chorus give a nostalgic, 70s feel which plays right into the “funk” feel that the record gives.

KIRBY continues with the nostalgic feel with a James Brown-esque call and response (“Ya booty couldn’t look better if you bought it!” “Say what?!”) KIRBY effectively marries old and new as she gives us an old school vibe with a refreshing new school production.
