On episode 69 of Tank and J Valentine’s R&B Money podcast, released three days ago, R&B superstar K Michelle shared hard, eye-opening details about singing as a child in church, her parents’ involvement from the beginning of her career, learning to yodel, playing the piano, and her days in college along with American producer Rico Love before her dropped out. Later, she gave light to her time with former professional boxer and boxing commentator Antonio Tarver, having to strip at a club in Atlanta for two years to make ends meet as a young mother, hiding that detail from her family, and how all of that led to her signing her first record deal under her former boyfriend, Memphitz, a former music executive. It was from there she worked under R Kelly’s tutelage.
Watch the turbulent two hour interview below to learn more about her story, her time in Nashville, the pedigree of artists there, and her comments about a rapper and a singer who once pursued her.
