Indie/Bedroom Pop currently sounds like so many different things, but Josh Fudge hits it right on the dot with ‘Second Date’. The first thing that came to mind listening to this track was that I get ‘Gus Dapperton’ vibes from this. The vocals are a bit less nasally than Gus Dapperton though, making this track very easy to listen to, I am taken back to my teenage years when listening to ‘Second Date’ and for some reason, I want to nothing more but to be at Lakeside, a still-running Amusement Park in Denver, Colorado that seems to have had its last updates in the ’80s.
Josh Fudge does a great job of creating a feeling for listeners that will bring up nostalgic feelings of love and excitement. This is a very youthful and trendy track that I can see getting picked up by many TikTok users for “day trip” and “thrift shop haul” videos. Ariel Pink, Mac Demarco, Tame Impala, Her’s, Banes World, Still Woozy, Jack Stauber, Boy Pablo, Gus Dapperton… The list goes on and on… That doesn’t mean that it should stop though, add Josh Fudge to your playlists after you give ‘Second Date’ a listen.
