This week’s #5NewVideos list consists of Inner Circle, Jojo Abot, Nitty Scott, and more.
Inner Circle featuring Konshens & J Boog – Light My Fire (Submitted)
Inner Circle released a new track called “Light My Fire” featuring Konshens and J Boog last month. In compliance with classic Jamaican jams, its production is minimal; allowing the vocals to bring a vibrant energy. Additionally, the animated music video for “Light My Fire” released yesterday. As the story progresses, J Boog courts a woman. The band is on the bill. Everything is alright. Watch the fiery visual below.
Jojo Abot – To Li (Personal)
Unfamiliar with Jojo Abot and everything she stands for, “To Li” struck me. A lot of artists are African or have African parents, but it is seldom that we use our native languages on record. Therefore, it is refreshing to hear a new singer embrace her heritage. My half-sister is Ghanaian, so I know a thing or two about Twi, the dialect of the Akan people. Abot is Anlo, though. “To Li” is a single from her EP: ‘FYFYA WOTO.’ Experience the uptempo jam by the definitive artist. Jojo Abot plays live at Baby’s Alright in Williamsburg, Brooklyn tonight. RSVP for the Red Bull Sound Select show curated by AFROPUNK now. Leikeli47 and QUIÑ are also on the bill.
Nitty Scott – Pxssy Powah! (Personal)
True to who she is, Nitty Scott, the Afro-Latina, is exciting. I think she’s able to captivate new audiences, by way of a young-spirited look and sound. However, selfishly, I want to hear her tiny voice float atop bolder production. I’m not worried, though. She will arrive at that junction when the time is right.
Hundred Waters – Fingers (Personal)
It has been years since I’ve heard new music by Hundred Waters. In the past, I received press releases about their work. In any event, as I cruised the internet earlier, I found the video for “Fingers.” According to Nest HQ, “it’s the third single from their long awaited new full-length” called ‘Communicating.’ Look, if you are not an insect lover, you wouldn’t want to communicate what’s happening in the video below.
Neck Deep – In Bloom (Personal)
Big production videos help us to digest messages better. The same applies for Neck Deep’s “In Bloom.” Visually different from the Nirvana’s “In Bloom” video treatment, Neck Deep belt lyrics from a sweet pink flowery atmosphere. It’s the kind of cleanliness I like.
