Interview: Dear Derrick Gives His Take On The New York City Scene, Art Curation And More

A few weeks ago, I sat with Dear Derrick in SoHo at the Henley. He’s most notable for his breakthrough on the New York City art scene as a young curator but our interview isn’t exactly in promotion of his efforts in the art world. A decade ago, he added music to his résumé and he’s putting it out there for old and new audiences to appreciate one of his many talents. In our chat, the Brownsville-native talks about the competitive spirit in his hometown, his fans, his involvement in the art world, and more. Naturally, Dear Derrick is an entertainer so sit back and enjoy the experience. When you’re finished watching his interview, check out his new single “Simple Things” from his upcoming release, #DD63.
