Epic Records has announced the signing of rising female newcomer HoodCelebrityy, the acclaimed Jamaican born/Bronx breakout star whose melodic flow on the recent remix of French Montana’s “Famous” continues her signature blend of cutting-edge Dancehall delivered with all the Bronx-bred hip-hop clout her aptly named persona evokes. In 2015, she began to establish her dynamic musical presence building her own well-rounded repertoire and garnering numerous features. By 2017, HoodCelebrityy joined KSR Group and released two seminal mixtapes, Can’t Believe It’s Just A girl and Trap vs. Reggae. Hailed as an ‘On The Rise Artist’ by The Source, she’s reaped media attention from Noisey to Fader to The New Yorker, which hailed her “Famous” cameo and recent single “Walking Trophy,” calling her one of the ‘new global faces of dancehall’ and praising her ‘ear for melody and delivery on par with Vybz Kartel’ (the Reggae/Dancehall legend who she cites as one of her major influences.)

HoodCelebrityy has that special magic that will move the cultural needle in a significant way,” stated Sylvia Rhone, President of Epic Records. “The entire company joins me in welcoming her to the Epic family.” Ezekiel Lewis, Executive Vice President of A&R for Epic, also commented: “HoodCelebrityy’s blend of feel-good music and charisma is irresistible. I am thrilled that her and the KSR team decided to partner with us to take her to new heights.

Deep Reggae roots were ingrained in HoodCelebrityy’s DNA growing up in the St. Catherine Parish district of Jamaica. She moved to the Bronx while still a pre-teen, soaking up the infectious hip-hop culture she would later infuse into her indelible sound that has reinvented the dancehall genre. Initially uploading videos on Instagram that showcased her freestyle chops, she began releasing trademark tracks including “Wine Pon It,” her debut single which exploded virally, and “The Takeover” which deftly injected Trap into her Dancehall domain. Her flawless lyrical ability combined with her charismatic stage presence has also netted her praise as a live performer, opening up for stars such as Cardi B, Shaggy, and others. Her quick ascent on the pop radar has garnered her a loyal following across multiple social media platforms and millions of views on her HoodCelebrityy YouTube channel.
