Meet Hanan Ibrahim
Hanan Ibrahim, not to be confused with the Somali activist or @prettyassshanan on Instagram, is a breathtaking runway model that hasn’t been around for more than eighteen months. This year, the hijab-wearing beauty walked during Melbourne Fashion Week for Lisa Gorman after being scouted last February. What does Ibrahim do when she isn’t modelling? According to the Fashion Journal article, she works as a radiation therapist and a tutor for disadvantaged children.
Chadwick Models represents her.
I really hope to inspire other young Muslim women who are wearing the hijab, who love fashion, that there is a place for us, said Hanan.
She is 5’11.5″, Australian, and her name was Ciara—car in Arabic—when she was born. After realising that her name was meaningless, her parents changed it to Hanan, which translates to “tenderness and compassion” in Arabic.
If you’re not familiar with my Model of the Week features, in this section, we’ve written about the likes of David Gandy, Georgia May Jagger, Crystal Renn and Aleece Wilson, who was featured in Beyoncé’s Part 2: #WhatIsPretty video. Be on the lookout for more of this rising star.
