This year, COVID-19 has caused a lot of pain both physically and emotionally to many people and families. Hip-hop took a major loss with the death of Fred the Godson, due to complications of COVID. Today, we decided to take a look back at one of our favorite verses from him, ‘Talkin’ Bout Money’ off of his ‘City of God’ mixtape. Over the infamous ‘Dead Presidents’ instrumental, the gifted South Bronx emcee rhymes about the journey and grind required to have elevated to a place where he reached, and the places and mentality he had to leave behind. With the Manhattan Bridge, and occasionally the Brooklyn Bridge, in the background of this video, he showcased his ability to be as raw and New York as possible and provide great music.
