Redefining artistry, FKA twigs is full of Neo-Expressionism. This fiery soul is forever pushing sonic boundaries. After the release of EP1, EP2, LP1, and the highly-anticipated EP3, loyal fans understand the value of originality.
In her recent interview with Complex, twigs goes into further detail on the new project “The EP is called Melissa, and ‘Melissa’ to me is my personal female energy. I’ve never called it ‘Melissa’ before the EP. It’s not a weird alter ego. It’s just my way of separating it from myself.”
Known for her cinematic conceptual videos (pieces of art), she never leaves her professional background in dance behind. Whether it’s voguing, rhythmic contorting, mechanical folds, or sharp angular bends, her style is contrasted with soft / subtle feminine shapes. All of these strong segments pay homage to legends in the dance world.
Musician, Director, Writer, Producer, and Dancer, this woman has many talents. Defying music / beauty standards (can be a superficial industry 90% of the time), she is at the forefront. Inspiring many young girls to embrace individuality and flaws… it’s what makes us human. Feminist power creates the overall tone to her performances. FKA twigs fills a void in music that’s been missing for years. Celebrated for her stunning visuals in album packaging, we can expect EP3 to be epic.
In the meantime, watch “Glass & Patron”, to see stages of womanhood.
