First Look: Kodak To Graph

Los Angeles-based Iranian-American producer Kodak To Graph just released his debut ISA LP, which is now available as a free download. The album’s experimental soundscapes incorporate found audio of natural sounds like crowds, birds, flowing water blended with his signature off-kilter Hip-Hop-infused Electronic, inspired heavily by the Psychedelic Pop and Persian Folk music that his parents introduced to him as a child. From the swamp lands of Gainesville, Florida to the border of Skid Row in downtown Los Angeles, ISA is a compilation of experiences and characters that inspired Maleki during his move to Los Angeles.

Maleki discovered Electronic music in high school, cutting his teeth on producers like DJ Shadow, Caribou, Four Tet, Bibio and Quantic. In 2012 he moved to Gainesville where he started producing music in earnest, releasing a string of singles on the Italian label, Bad Panda Records. Other highlights of Maleki’s nascent career include remix work for Doja Cat, Hundred Waters and Salt Cathedral, and tours with Odesza, Gold Panda, Hundred Waters, and Slow Magic. His first ever headline Break The Ice Tour with Big Wild and Obeson begins March 24 and spans 30 dates throughout March, April and May.
