Garden City Movement have decided to celebrate the holidays early by exclusively releasing their sought after track “Pont des Arts”, and you can listen to it via this link. “Pont des Arts” is one of the band’s most dancefloor ready tunes to date, showcasing their signature distorted vocals against genres of 90s house music and today’s modern electronic elements like the WeDidIt collective (Ryan Hemsworth, RL Grime, Shlohmo). The track was first revealed earlier this year after they made their debut appearance on the Boiler Room, and since then the song has only been featured durning their live sets, but quickly become a fan-favorite. Therefore, due to the fan demand Garden City Movement decided to properly record “Pont des Arts” and release it publicly.
Named after the famous bridge in Paris, band member Johnny Sharoni explains “Pont des Arts” song inspiration as, “The gesture of people attaching love locks to the bridge’s railing as a symbol of eternal love. Last summer part of the parapet literally collapsed due to the weight of the locks. It’s kind of a funny incident if you think about it, but you know, love indeed is a heavy thing.”
The Tel Aviv based trio have also announced they will be touring the States for the first time next March to perform a few intimate headline shows, including making their debut at SXSW 2015. More show details to be revealed soon via this link.
Since surfacing on the music scene 1 year ago, Garden City Movement have released two well-received EPs, climbed the Hype Machine Popular Chart with multiple singles, opened for SOHN, Cults, DJ Shadow, plus made their much talked about debut appearance at Glastonbury 2014. Recently, the band’s music video for pervious single “Move On” received a nomination for “Best Music Video” at the LA Film Festival 2014 and won “Best Video of The Year” at the MTV 2014 Israel Music Awards.
