Doe Boy fits the mold.

 

Today, in the world of Urban Contemporary Music and beyond, Future is a household name. Known for his affiliations with legendary individuals and dining with fashion’s elite, Future is now presenting new music under his Freebandz label imprint.

‘Streetz Need Me’ is the latest release by Doe Boy, a Cleveland, Ohio-native rapper. The mixtape features eighteen tracks. It features DJ Esco, Remy Boy Monty, Future, Lil Durk, OJ Da Juiceman & Lil Cray. Most importantly, Doe Boy doesn’t offer a new narrative. His voice isn’t unique nor does the production stray away from the norm. If you’re looking for something groundbreaking, you won’t find it here. However, if you’d like to add unmarked sing-rap tracks to your playlists, this is the project for you. This is not to say Doe Boy makes ‘bad’ music, but to point out that it fits the mold.

Being signed to a star—Future—ought to be a safe bet. Naturally and understandably, everyone wants a piece of his action, his pie. However and truthfully, life isn’t designed to make a world of winners. Just a selected few are supposed to win big with good reason. But—Donald Trump is the President-Elect of the United States of America, so anything is possible. America’s political traditions have taken a backseat lately too.

If he keeps making songs as fun as ‘Way Too Many’, ‘Nigga’, ‘Odell Beckham’, ‘Mama Neva Understand’, ‘Rob A Rapper’, ‘Damn Well’, especially the one about the New York Giants wide receiver, he will continue to capture the youth, dancers, and people with young souls.

“On November 19, 2012, rapper Doe Boy, 18-year-old at the time, signed a deal with Freebandz, after releasing his mixtape Boyz N Da Hood 2 few weeks prior. On December 17, 2012, Future signed a joint deal with Freebandz and his major label Epic Records. Future’s positive experience working with Epic on his first solo albums convinced him to create the joint venture. The label’s first group release—the mixtape F.B.G.: The Movie, was put out for free digital download on January 15, 2013. It served as an introduction to the new FBG artists Slice9, Casino, Mexico Rann and Maceo, as well as affiliate Young Scooter. According to Future, ‘the tape sounds like a movie soundtrack’. It was certified platinum for having over 250,000 downloads on the popular mixtape site DatPiff. The second mixtape from Freeband Gang, titled Black Woodstock: The Soundtrack, was released on April 20, 2013, in celebration of 4/20. It features performances by a number of FBG artists and production by Drumma Boy, 808 Mafia, Metro Boomin, K.E. on the Track and DJ Montay, among others.” — Freebandz
