Ever come across singers who can sing any words and it will sound good? I have, and it’s what Music Teacher’s music reminds me of, as it seems the band can fit into any melody and deliver whatever they’re trying to get across. Check out ‘How ‘Bout You’ by the Swedes now. It’s one of nine records set to release through their next album ‘Bits and Pieces’.
DJ Earl – Face (Submission)
Following suit of the record before this one, Chicago’s critically-acclaimed Footwork producer DJ Earl showcases a warmer sound with ‘Face’. According to the notes we’ve received, the lively track closes a trilogy of digital samples released through Moveltraxx. We’re looking forward to what else he has in store. For now, let’s bask in the jazzy loops and drum programming masterfully composted by Teklife’s own.
Gullet – Supine (Submission)
Fun, cute and light-hearted are some of the ways we like our edgier favourite songs to be. And this morning, Ottawa band Gullet brings over that spirit as they write and sing songs about bad breakups, online dating apps, and the suckiness of school. ‘Supine’, a word that we don’t tend to use in my circles, means to lie face upward or to fail to act or protest as a result of moral weakness or indolence. Which one do you think fits best?
Magpie Blue – Just In Time (Submission)
There’s no other way to put this. ‘Just In Time’ sounds like the music car companies license for their massive marketing for radio and television commercials! I feel like I’m on a long drive, cruising and coasting with the people or person that I love. It may very well not be the intention or inspiration for the nineteen-year-old British singer’s debut single, but it’s where it took me. As you listen to the record, you will learn that Magpie Blue doesn’t seem to be too kind to cowards, which is understandable. If you’re anything like me, you’ll love the way the record picks up over time. Start your morning with this excellence!
AYLØ – Paris! (Submission)
There aren’t many words in this beautiful composition, but the feelings it brings forth are limitless, and the music feels like sticks to your soul like fufu to a bowl. It could just be me, but that’s what my experience was. ‘Paris!’ is the brand record that you can listen to with your parents and grandparents, as it seems to be influenced by generations before his own and his own. Get to know the multifaceted Nigerian artist through his latest release.
OKORO – Next Chapter Freestyle (Submission) (Bonus)
Through his new freestyle, Nigerian-Canadian rapper OKORO speaks his truth over a Manny Manhattan production, which samples a familiar beat and vocals. As you listen to the song, you’ll learn more about who he is as a person, his faith in God, wanting to inspire and influence others, and more. OKORO has a nice rap voice.
