Darrin Baker is no Drake.

Artists from Toronto are making waves more than ever since the emergence of Drake. It is important to know that because he is from the same city, Darrin Baker is no Drake. Still in the preliminary stages of his music career, Baker promotes himself for exposure. He works with artists that are on the same playing field like Lucki (formerly Lucki Eck$). And he is competitive.
I received an email from Darrin Baker. He was promoting his forthcoming debut EP called, “Daze of the Weak.” When I listened to “Thursday,” I immediately became intrigued and a little angry at myself for not checking the defunct email account sooner. It is Baker’s second single from his debut, which is the follow-up to “Wednesday.”
Listen to the new record produced by Detroit native producer Jordan ATM, and read the quote from the artist below. “Daze of the Weak” will be out this Fall.
“‘Daze Of The Weak” is a summary of my daily struggle throughout one of the darkest phases of my life. It has been an on-going battle, dealing with anxiety, depression, substance abuse, insecurity and heartbreak. My risky behavior led to mistakes of the past catching up to me, and the fear of losing myself has never been so prominent. I feel out of touch with reality, and “Thursday” details why. The multiple drug references, the heartache love brings and the constant self-doubt adds to the overwhelming surge of negativity emotions I deal with 24/7. This is simply another day of the week…” — Darrin Baker
