D Smoke challenges the male perspective with ‘Rapture’ visual: Watch

D Smoke shares the creative official video for his powerful song ‘Rapture’. This song is important, as it challenges the perspective for the Black man, and uplifts and highlights the need for Black women, beyond the limitations society puts on them. The video starts off with a reenactment of the famous conversation between Nikki Giovanni and James Baldwin, in which she expresses the frustration of having to deal with the man’s problems when he comes home. Black women are seen in different settings throughout the video, as he questions what life would be for us without our women. D Smoke was intentional with this offering, as he allowed a space for some women to express their personal grievances with the weight of the world placed on their shoulders. Today’s a good day to celebrate women, and here is a great start.
