This 5@5 morning playlist consists of morgxn, CARDS, Mekong Xpress, and more.
morgxn – Home featuring WALK THE MOON (Submission)
If you’re looking for a song for rejoicing moments in life, we think you can find what you’re looking for in morgxn’s new track ‘Home’ featuring WALK THE MOON, a four-piece Alternative-Pop outfit. No matter how far and wide we travel to chase our dreams or to be with someone we love, there’s nothing like home. It is a feeling that is unmatched. The well-produced record embodies what makes a great pop record: relatable lyrics, a catchy/easy-to-learn chorus and an undeniable chord progression. The Los Angeles-based artist is currently on tour with Dreamers + Weathers. If you like what you hear and they are in your city, see them.
CARDS – Right Time (Submission)
Falling in love is one of the best experiences of human life, but it is good to fall in love with someone at the right time. It isn’t to say that problems will not arise, but when it is the right time, things may occur smoothly. It’s officially the first day of Autumn, so although it sounds like a Summertime groove, if your Summer relationship survived until this time, you can still play this record. It’s huge when a man picks up your call. Most times, it means he’s not a jackass (or he didn’t get what he wants yet). Listen to CARDS’ new song, ‘Right Time’ below.
Mekong Xpress – Common Knowledge (Submission)
At the moment, I am sitting in the waiting area of the airport. It is cold. The air conditioner, or central air, is on full blast. I feel like I am in a refrigerator. Nonetheless, ‘Common Knowledge’ encourages me to think of the West Coast, sunshine, beaches, snorkelling and sunscreen. Four minutes and more in length, the track bears a funky groove made to make you feel good, and think about a loved one. Stream the title track from the nine-track album now.
Aüva – What’s Wrong (Submission)
Lately, my priority is to attain peace. Within every turn, my surroundings have been chaotic for as long as I could remember. ‘What’s Wrong?’ Everything is wrong until it is nothing. I didn’t find much captivating information about the band, but they are Boston-bred musicians and that they have a seven-track record out called, ‘All Good Things’. Check out the latest single from that project below.
ASHLEE & EVAN – Safe Zone (Submission)
I’m all about a husband and wife energy and the spirit of unity, so when ASHLEE & EVAN’s track came across my desk, I wanted to give it a fair listen. Not because of who they are, but it’s about what I mentioned earlier–love and togetherness.
