Camille Yembe is a new artist in her mid-twenties born to a Belgian mother and a Congolese father, according to a Sofar Sounds article.
Freeze-framing an aggressively windy day, the new French-speaking singer Camille Yembe seems to place the voices in her head on an undeserving pedestal… making her astonishingly relatable and vulnerable in her debut solo track ‘Plastique’.
“She’s striking!”, I thought. “How could she not see what I see?”
The truth is, sometimes, we can’t see what others see. If you don’t speak French and cannot understand what the song is about, I’ve got you covered. You can read the French and English lyrics in this article.
Yembe has been featured on other recording artists’ songs as a feature (See ‘4 Saisons’ by GAN) officiating her plunge into the music business in 2015. However, the Brussels-born singer-songwriter appears to have one solo release, ‘Plastique’, seemingly taking a chance to become an artist in her own right.
