Stream Bridget Kelly’s debut album, ‘Reality Bites’

‘Reality Bites’ marks Bridget Kelly’s first album release since launching her professional music career over ten years ago. Listen to the thirteen-track release below.

Bridget Kelly is a name we’ve all seen for many years in the music industry. For a long time, it seemed that the only time we’ve seen her was when singing alongside JAY Z—filling in for Alicia Keys on ‘Empire State of Mind’. Ten years after signing to Roc Nation in 2008, the talented musician released ‘Reality Bites’ independently thru The Initiative Group. We want to say that she released a single before the ‘Empire State of Mind’ performances, but we cannot remember if it happened or the name of such record.

What can you expect from the thirteen-track LP? Based on what we’ve heard, the seasoned singer-songwriter spills her guts in each line; showing her bravery, vulnerability, strength, and personal interests. From the honest and responsible ‘Need a Love’ to the explosive ‘No Apologies’, the thirty-two-year-old shows her vocal range and passion throughout the album.

Seven years ago, Frank Ocean penned a song for Bridget Kelly’s debut project called, ‘Thinking Bout Forever’. Later, he released the demo version to his Tumblr website. Instead of her version making it to her debut studio album, it lives on an EP entitled: Every Girl. Frank Ocean later released his version on ‘Channel Orange’, trumping her version.

Suitably titled, we think ‘Reality Bites’ is a testament to Bridget Kelly’s professional experiences and her personal life. One thing’s for sure. Reality does bite—it bites hard. If you like Jazmine Sullivan and Monica, we think you will like Bridget Kelly, too.
