Last week, Africa’s largest record label, Mavin Records, reached out in an email to share their latest find: Bayanni. Oladokun Abimbola Elijah was born to a family of five boys. His mother is a school teacher, and his father is a university bursar. As most African parents would have it, music wasn’t the first pick for Bayanni. However, against all odds, Bayanni followed his heart, and here we are. On August 24, the twenty-five-year-old singer-songwriter released his four-track debut project. The project explores life-inspired songs about providing for his loved ones (‘Family’ produced by Sparrq Beatz), a beautiful woman he wants to spend his money on (‘Body’ produced by Andre Vibez), intimate time with a lady (‘Ta Ta Ta’ produced Prestige), and (‘Kala’ produced by Sparrq Beatz).
