There are a handful of living people that I’d want to serenade me or play a private set for me in this lifetime. The one-woman project—Bathe—happens to fall on that shortlist. It isn’t the clarity of her vocals, per se. It is about her ability to want to create in the median of emotion—something that is foreign to me and that I associate with personal depressive behaviour. Hoping to evoke neither mad or sad moods, the Atlanta-based artist is special to me because she plays every instrument [drums, guitar, bass and vocals] and writes her music by herself. Where do her strength and skill come from to create in this way? It could be the number of losses she’s experienced in her life and the unfortunate absence that follows. For many, grieving is a life-long process; I can relate.

The song ‘The Silence’ is written in a Mixolydian key, and is set to be on her forthcoming debut LP titled, ‘Last Looks’. Check it out below.
