Zebra Katz “Hello Hi” (Submitted)
On November 2, I received an email from Zebra Katz’s representative. Aside from being shot at the stunning Rick Owens Palais Bourbon, the leading androgynous individual is a looker. You can hear vocals by BOSCO in the hook. A large part of me wishes that we premiered Katz’s “Nu Renegade” video in the past. Maybe things—for traditional Hip-Hop publications (print and digital)—will be different in the future.
Sevdaliza “Marilyn Monroe” (Personal)
In what feels mildly like a Björk or a FKA twigs visual treatment, Iranian-Dutch singer-songwriter Sevdaliza found inspiration in one of Hollywood’s beloved actresses, Marilyn Monroe.
In an email to the premiere site, she wrote, “Inspired by a testimony of connecting inner and outer strength, Marilyn Monroe portrays the process of gracefully becoming stronger, a practice of remembering the muscles, the limbs, the bones, the face, the self, and completion of an evolving ex-human’s body, mind, and soul. She gracefully represent[s] the struggle with the future self and tries to find spiritual truth through computed experiences.”

Bas “Clouds Never Get Old” (Personal)
Instead of relying on beauty or a dreamy physique, Bas reveals what he’s got. In other words, money talks and the rapper uses it to his advantage. You know the rest. Nothing else is of concern. Perhaps, it’s why he levitates throughout the video. When you’re earning money, trivial and petty things don’t matter. Your problems aren’t the same. I think if Bas can date a girl who works for Vogue because he has money, we should all aspire to earn some.
Isaiah Rashad – 4r Da Squaw (Personal)
After seeing Isaiah Rashad live at Villain on Friday, I thought it would be best to include one of his videos. He was full of energy. I also had a clear view of his crotch and his sweat dripping on me. There’s no better way to experience a musician.
