Former President Barack Obama has shared his annual summer playlist; he continues a tradition he started while he was the President of the United States. The curated summer playlist for 2021 by Obama features tracks by Bob Marley, Rihanna, JAY Z, Drake, Migos, HER, SZA, and more.

On Saturday, July 10, 2021, Obama took to social media to share his curated playlist for this summer. He said it was a mix of old and new, household names and emerging artists. He tweeted:

With so many folks getting together with family and friends, there’s a lot to celebrate this summer. Here’s a playlist of songs I’ve been listening to lately—it’s a mix of old and new, household names and emerging artists, and a whole lot in between.

Obama’s 2021 summer playlist cuts across different music genres and eras. The curated playlist consists of Rock, R&B and Reggae classics like The Rolling Stones’ ‘Tumbling Dice’, Stevie Wonder’s ‘If You Really Love Me’, Bob Marley’s ‘Exodus’, respectively. There’s also room for contemporary songs like Drake’s ‘Wants and Needs’ featuring Lil Baby, SZA’s ‘Good Days’, J Cole’s ‘Neighbors’, Migos’ ‘Straightenin’, HER’s ‘Find A Way’ featuring Lil Baby.

Earlier on, Obama shared his 2021 summer reading list. He tweeted:

While we were still in the White House, I began sharing my summer favorites—and now, it’s become a little tradition that I look forward to sharing with you all. So here’s this year’s offering. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
