Have you ever been called out for capping? Well, there’s a good story weaved into the lyrics of Arkells’ latest track, ‘One Thing I Know’. As the song progresses, the lead singer—Max Kerman—peels back the façade and reveals his true identity. He is a foreigner with an accent, coached into believing he should mask his accent to avoid becoming a mockery. It doesn’t take long before he realises the compromise wasn’t worth it.

On the name of the song, Mark says, “Now more than ever, it seems our lives can change in the blink of an eye,” says frontman Max Kerman. “We began working on this album before the world changed, and this title felt right given where we’ve collectively landed. Every day you wake up, and you think you know a lot of stuff, then it turns out – you don’t.”

Check out the official music video for the song that many people might find relatable or fascinating below. ‘One Thing I Know’ is from their forthcoming album’ Blink Once’ out September 30 through Universal Music Canada/Virgin Label and Artist Services. Mark Myers directed the music video; they shot at No Frills in Dufferin Mall in Toronto, Canada. The Canadian band plans to announce their late 2021/early 2022 dates soon as COVID restrictions ease.
