Hear ‘Resurrection’: Angel Haze’s vocally progressive new track

Angel Haze is ready to compete.

Angel Haze returns with a fitting and (subtly religious) track called, ‘Resurrection’. According to the rapper, she died two years ago. This year marks her return, like Phoenix from Greek mythology. Unlike her previous works, Angel Haze uses different pitches to execute and deliver her message in ‘Resurrection’.

On ‘Resurrection’, I think Angel Haze gives a glimpse of what’s to come. She exercises the full potential of her vocals too. Also, I think the mix is superb. I, especially, am excited about the second album, ‘Roses Rising’. In addition, ‘Impossible’ from ‘Back To The Woods’ was my favourite track by the Detroit-native.

Raeen Roes Wilson was born on July 10, 1991, in Detroit, Michigan to a military family. Wilson is of African and Native American ancestry and a self-taught speaker of Tsalagi. Haze was raised in the Greater Apostolic Faith, but is no longer practicing. In an interview with The Guardian, Haze stated: “we all lived in the same community, within 10 minutes of each other. You weren’t allowed to talk to anyone outside of that, you weren’t allowed to wear jewelry, listen to music, to eat certain things, to date people…you weren’t allowed to do pretty much anything.” However, after a pastor threatened Wilson’s mother, the family left the church and moved to Brooklyn, New York when Haze was 16 years old. Haze soon began delving into the world of secular music.
