American TV host Jerry Springer dies at 79

He hosted the The Jerry Springer Show for 27 years.

British-born Gerald Norman Springer, American broadcaster and producer has been pronounced dead. The legendary talk-show host passed away at his Chicago home after being diagnosed with cancer few months ago.

He once pursued a political career, becoming the mayor of Cincinnati in 1977 – and even considered a run for Ohio state governor.

He is survived by his daughter Katie Springer and his older sister Evelyn.
