Memphis, Tennessee-native singer-songwriter of Nigerian descent, Akoma Onwuzuruigbo, sings the blues on his incredible debut record ‘Messenger’. His arresting vocals command your attention immediately, making you want to hear what he has to say. The song sung in first-person is about a young man who cannot get his life together. Unfortunately, his childhood contributed to him becoming a broken boy, and nothing changed, so he grew into an untrustworthy man. To my knowledge, Akoma Onwuzuruigbo is one of the rare musicians to release such a record as a debut. The only other person that comes close in my mind is Raury.
