bout a month ago, Agency released a layered body of music entitled, ‘Exponents’. Exuding tranquil flair and thought-provoking soundscapes, the mysterious artist has a handle on new wave R&B/Pop sensibilities.
‘Darkness’ has an odd forty-second intro that features what seems to be demonic voices. I could be wrong, but with a title like ‘Darkness’ and my imagination, it is fitting. In this particular song, there were at least three moments where it felt like another song was starting. Perhaps, it personifies what it is like to dwell in darkness.
‘Moonlight’ feels like the middle of what signifies darkness and daylight. It’s a centric transition from the depths of darkness to lightness.
‘Daylight’ talks about hiding behind one’s shell. With an emphasis on the daylight, the additional vocals belonging to birds brings the track to life.
‘Is There Some Other version of My Story?’ pokes at the idea of power being in mystery, kind of like the group’s identity. Much like their musical influences (Frank Ocean and James Blake), they are here, but not really if that makes any sense.
‘Nothing Easy About Me’ is a soft record that questions everything—ended it with the reality that there aren’t any excuses. For what exactly? Everything.
About two weeks ago, the recording artist released another song called, ‘Hunt Me Down’. Check that one out, too, if you feel inclined.
