Mila J “Kickin’ Back” (Personal)
Mila J, big sister to Jhéne Aiko, is in “airplane mode.” She does not need any drama. Watch the Southern California-based music video below. I can see her as a successful actress too. Mila, do the Drake, in reverse.
John Legend “Love Me Now” (Personal)
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen, the love of his life, continue to show us how much they love each other in “Love Me Now.” Realizing that tomorrow is not promised, Legend sings about loving his mate now; not waiting for another moment. The truthful single comes from Legend’s forthcoming album titled, “Darkness and Light.” Watch the diverse Nabil-direction.
Laura Mvula “Overcome” featuring Nile Rodgers (Personal)
It is a wonder why my fellow writers don’t talk much about Laura Mvula. I remember going to see her live with my then MTV Editor Beverly Bryan. As enchanting as her voice is on record, it is the same when you’re in the room with her. So far, the videos I’ve seen by Mvula are all rich in color, concept, and more. Check out the tribal video for her Nile Rodgers collaboration, “Overcome.”
Ty Dolla $ign “Stealing” (Personal)
As soon as the first line ended, I thought about Kevin McCall and his relationship with his mother. Aside from stealing the hearts of several women, Ty Dolla $ign is one of the busiest men in the business. Last year, he released one of my favorite albums, “Free TC.” This year, he released “Campaign.” He is one of the best voices today. Watch the one shot direction below.
