This week’s #5NewVideos list consists of Goldilox, Kevin Gates, Drake, and more.
Goldilox – Morning (Personal)
Goldilox, formerly My Name Is Kay, shared the official video for “Morning.” The sound is different from her fun — think Kesha and Gwen Stefani — brand of Pop with elements of Hip-Hop. This time, she appears to be mature and appeals to an international audience. “Morning” finds the Nova Scotia-native singer-songwriter in a binding of love, where she’s also not afraid to be vulnerable and say she is irreplaceable. I’m not a casino-dweller. However, I play to win. I’m betting that the big production will catapult the blonde-haired beauty into mainstream grounds, sooner than later.
PARRI$ – NASTY (Personal)
PARRI$, a skilled choreographer and recording artist born in New Zealand is the latest entity to take the internet by storm. If you’re a fan of Missy Elliott, hard-hitting beats, neutral and natural hues, and the art of choreography, you might enjoy the well-shot music video.
Kevin Gates – Time For That (Personal)
Released five days ago, “Time For That” has accumulated more than a million views already. Kevin Gates is an artist that I have watched in his most uncomfortable moments, and he has blossomed into a star. Never afraid to tell his truth or praise his God, Gates raps about time wasted, blessings, love and more in a deserted area. I think his music is for confident people, or anyone looking for motivation and confidence. Stream his album — Islah — via this link.
Drake – Child’s Play (Personal)
Guilt and fear sink in as Drake walks back to the dinner table. Tyra Banks smears cake on his face and pours wine on him before leaving. Next, Drake raps the meme-famous lines to the ‘VIEWS’ single.
SHANGO – Ride featuring Vader & Mako (Submitted)
It’s a song that is bound to make you feel good. Before Los Angeles-bred recording artist SHANGO released the “Ride” video, he shared it with me. Enjoying a summer day in SoCal, SHANGO, and his love interest takes the beachside amusement park. One of my favorite shots involves the aerial view of the featured rapper in the sand. I also like when the couple dances in front of the Ferris wheel and when she mouths the words of the record. Watch the video that celebrates romance below.
