Most people don’t think of Japan when they talk about Dance music, but the country’s 60-year-old “fueiho” laws have imposed strict regulations on nightclub culture and are causing their vibrant dance scene to lose its meaning. With Tokyo hosting the 2020 Olympics debates to reform the laws have already begun, though clubs are still operating in a legal gray area.
