Fede ”dsm” born as a Hip-Hop beatmaker in 1998, then many years of Funk, Soul and Experimental research drove him thru the “undergroundest” Hip-Hop producing a lot of beats for his city’s many crews. In 2008, he met Filippo Papetti and there were born Planet Soap. From the original imprint in classic beatmaking, Planet Soap developed itself in grooving beats and wobble basses, with a never extinguished care to the soul. In 2009, Fede ”dsm”, through Bamalovesoul.blogspot.com, release an EP of 21 beats, one minute lenght each one. Now with the Snooze’s collaboration, Planet Soap prepares to explore nu genres. Recently he played before Neil Landsrumm and James Pants in their Italian venues. His music is in endless evolution.
It was always something about his voice that made me listen. He reminds me of early-mid 1990s Hip-Hop. Prodigy. Queensbridge. Gritty. Goodness. For Suede Jury’s music, kindly click here.
Bully the audio! I enjoy the use of colour, the wardrobe, and the wide angles of the ‘Only Man’ music video. As a designer who appreciates the ‘little things’ — I also noticed the die-cut car freshener. Not sure if it is an international thing, but I can dig it. Nice touch. Really. I can’t stop dancing!
With a very different sound and organization, Grillo has the outstanding gift of giving. As a token of appreciation and love, Grillo created the special mix below for us at GrungeCake Magazine. It contains an exclusive Grillo remix track featuring vocals from Lil’ Wayne. Enjoy it.
Born in a coastal town in Italy with a light skin tone, Grillo found himself pretty much the only kid at the beach getting constantly sun burnt and scorched. Forced to stay indoors during the hottest days of summer he developed a passion for making mixtapes on his boombox out of old tapes he found around the house. These early recordings were a mix of old italian folksingers, videogame soundtracks and long religious sermons from grandma’s collection of C-90s. Teenage years brought Grillo decks, records and software trackers, along with a passion for hip hop and sampling, the lost art of recycling applied to music. Today, in addition to regularly collaborating with local rap acts, leftfield electronica projects and rogue indie movie crews Grillo crafts his own blend of music consisting of crusty beats, vintage samples, 8-bit bleeps and field recordings: sounds like recycled crap yet an original voice somehow emerges from it all.

Art has always played a major part in my musical journey. After my father passed away leaving me with his collection. I realized how therapeutic music is and how it helps me deal with the loss. Shortly after his death, I became a producer to reinvent music and use it as an instrument to help others and myself. Keeping listeners turned in with offbeat rhythms and new ways to hear things has opened some doors for me, but I’m not in it to sell my soul, just to deliver something different.
